Our Shepherd’s Hut “Wren” offers a touch of luxury to your glamping break away in the Cambridgeshire countryside.
Nestled right on the edge of the lake, with enclosed decking that includes a private hot tub and seating, you really can relax and take in the views across the water and into the fields beyond.
Handcrafted by local carpenters, Wren offers all you could need for a quick getaway, with a modern interior and luxury fittings throughout. Kitchenette with mini-fridge, twin hob, microwave, kettle and all cutlery and crockery supplied, bathroom with full sized shower and toilet, and a comfy double bed and cushions. With the addition of a wood burner stove to keep warm, and air conditioning for the warmer days, Wren is the perfect spot at any time of year.
Fishing is available on site with the purchase of a ticket, and access granted to all lakes.
Check in from 4pm and Check Out at 10am.
Head Fen Country Retreat is a stunning spot in a rural setting, with four fishing lakes, and beautiful surroundings. The perfect place to relax and unwind, enjoy a day fishing, or use as a base to explore the wider area. The historic city of Ely is nearby, boasting a majestic Cathedral which can be seen for miles, and beautiful walks along the riverfront.

Beautiful setting, cabin has everything you need. Only suggestion would be a comfier mattress. Everything else is spot on, wood burner is a lovely touch too.

Beautiful quiet relaxing retreat. Set out in the middle of nowhere but close enough to amenities and Ely city. So peaceful beautiful sunrise to wake up to. Spent the days walking and enjoying the area and Cambridge then back to our shepherd hut for a relaxing evening in the hot tub and sitting out on the veranda. All in all a wonderful place to get away from it all for peace and quiet. The knly gripe we had if any was the matress on the bed was a little uncomfortable and thin we could feel the slts through it. Apart from that we had a lovely time and amazing stay thanks 😊

We absolutely love coming to headfen. It’s the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The hot tub and fishing just makes it a perfect place. Make sure to take your food and drink as there’s no local shops around. The bbq is always clean and ready to use aswell. All round beautiful place. Only thing I would recommend is a new mattress in the Wren hut. We’ve stayed in all different ones and they are all fab!!!

Me and my wife went for a relaxing fishing break. We caught loads of carp over our 3 days, the fishing was great and the lakes well stocked. The accommodation was great and in excellent condition, very clean, the hot tub was very relaxing. Overall would highly recommend. This was our second stay and didn’t disappoint.

Fantastic little hideaway in the countryside and we felt like we had the whole site to ourselves for the weekend. Hut was perfectly clean and comfortable and the hot tub on the deck overlooking the lake was beautiful.It is worth mentioning that there is a microwave as I don't think this is listed in the advert/info we received and it does make a difference when thinking of meals to bring. Fridge was a wine cooler so a bit tricky to balance smaller items. But these are minor points. We had a fantastic weekend and would definitely consider returning in the future

Myself and my husband had a fantastic mini getaway stay at Head Fen. We were extremely lucky with the weather which made the outlook over the lakes even more serene and beautiful. Cute and comfortable accommodation and the Hot tub was a fantastic addition to the stay. Husband loved the fishing and had some great catches. Local pub also served fantastic food. Overall wonderful stay in a beautiful serene location. Thank you.
