"Peaceful Stay"

I highly recommend staying here with lovely peaceful walks nearby, as directed by the friendly staff, and even more opportunities with a vehicle. I hope to visit again soon!

Stayed for 2 nights with my family and dog in the wooden lodge and friends in the pod. We had an amazing time. From the very warm welcome by Jan through to to the wonderful environment, which inspired my son to tell the most amazing woodland tale. The surrounding woods are great for kids, and dog, the former were able to roam and make dens. It was brilliant. The local amenities were also great. We spent most of one day at the local Saxon village and grendal walk followed by dinner in one of the local pubs. Have already tried to re-book for June but no availability in the Hobit pod which looks amazing! Totally and utterly recommend! We cannot wait to return.

Booked by our daughters for our wedding anniversary my husband and I found the Wooden Lodge as a perfect getaway. On arranging the booking date and arrangements Ed was very helpful, friendly and pleasant. On arrival we met Jan, he was also very friendly, pleasant and recommended several possible interests in the area. The lodge was very clean, I was pleasantly surprised just how much the cabin had to offer which was so much more to other accommodations I have stayed in. Not only did the kitchen have more than enough cooking/kitchen utensils it even went as far as having extras such as tin foil, washing up liquid, tea towel and ice cubes. There was also books and dvds of different varieties too board games for everyone. We had some difficulties with our phone signals there but absolutely no problems with WiFi. We went for a quiet getaway which is exactly what we got! It’s a lovely area and if you do your research there is something for everyone, from country walks, historical venues, local restaurants, country wide restaurants, cinema and so much more! Will definitely recommend!

Miss R Moore - Stayed with partner, Sep 2018

I loved my stay here with my partner, we had the log cabin for the night and loved it. Very well laid out and lots of space. The walks around the woods are lovely and lots to see and do! Would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a nice quiet get away.

Although the road was not busy cars did drive very fast along it. We had our dogs with us and the closeness of the road made us very wary of the chance of them running out onto it and as such would also be unsuitable for small children too. This could be in some way overcome by maybe putting a small veranda around the paving at the front of the cabin with a small gate so as to ensure safety and enable people to sit out with children/dogs. The outside light did not work and so made it extremely dark at night when venturing outside Website says cabin came with a bbq but was a firepit which didn't bother us as we did not use it as bbq. Friendly staff and a lovely area but just for road safety would not return again .

We take on board your comments but we do state quite clearly, on the website, that the Lodge is close to the road and adjacent to the car park. There is a map on the website and links to it in the correspondence, clearly stating it's position. We also request that dogs are kept on a lead at all times, whilst outside, for that reason ie, that it is close to the road. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your time with us and thanks you very much for your suggestions. best wishes

"Lovely summer weekend away"

Ms G Ha-Gorlin - Stayed with family, Aug 2018

Lovely and friendly hosts. Only wish it was less insects free as we had to battle with flies and wasps quite a bit though we understand that they were part of the picture.

Ed, replied to this review on the 18 September 2018

Thanks for taking the time to submit your review...we're glad you mostly enjoyed your visit but as you say, the insects come with the territory during the peak season. We do have nets over the windows to help. Kind regards Ed

I appreciated having all the comforts of self catering accommodation while we all enjoyed evenings round the bbq with kids clambering amongst the wonderful trees. Banham Zoo, Anglesea Abbey and West Stow Anglo Saxon village were all great days out and we were sorry not to make it to High Lodge in Thetford. We have already recommended to a colleague who booked Pod Hollow the next day...

A short walk or car journey will take u 2 several surrounding activities, playgrounds or days out & only a 15min drive & ur in the centre of Bury St Edmunds with all the shopping & restraints etc u can wish for. Our hosts were once again very welcoming & friendly & nothing is 2 much 4 them. A truly magnificent stay
