The Shepherd's Hut is positioned within a C-listed small traditional farm steading thought to date from the early 19th century and named after the famous battle of the same name. It looks out to open farmland towards a small burn. It is the perfect place to spend a short break for two in an unusual property.. The Hut and site were constructed recently by ourselves and although designed on the outside to reflect the traditional style of a typical Shepherd's Hut and clad in locally sourced simple Larch timber the inside has been designed to provide modern levels of comfort and convenience. Internal features include a full sized double bed with a comfortable mattress an ensuite with electric shower as well as a kitchen with full sized sink and separate two ring ceramic hob. In addition the fixed dining area for two is located below a large window allowing views out over the surrounding countryside. Included are all the things needed to provide a comfortable and cosy stay including electric heating, bed linen, towels and cooking utensils, microwave oven, kettle and toaster. In addition the hut has a 22 inch TV with DVD player and a Bluetooth soundbar for music along with a separate DAB radio.
As well as the Shepherd's Hut itself we have provided a small and separate private sun lounge with large windows on three sides alongside the hut.. It has a sofa and its own TV/DVD ideal for simply relaxing and enjoying the outdoor holiday feeling on sunny or even rainy days or kicking back and enjoying a good book or watching TV or a DVD in the evening.
Finally the hut includes its own fully fenced garden area and a patio with table chairs. barbeque and external lighting. Parking is included within the yard and next to the gate of the hut itself.
Waterloo itself is a small hamlet approximately 1 mile north of the Perthshire village of Bankfoot and lies about 5 miles south of the town of Dunkeld and 9 miles north of the City of Perth. It is an ideal location from which to explore Perthshire and beyond. The nearest pub and restaurants are located within two small hotels in the village of Bankfoot.
The No.23 Stagecoach local bus runs between Perth, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy and stops just outside the property. The local train station at Dunkeld is approximately 3.8 miles away and the major train station in Perth is around 10 miles south.
