Nestled beneath ancient oak trees, Ursa is surrounded by nature, wildlife and the rolling Blackdown Hills. Enjoy stunning sunsets and breathtaking starry skies from your own private haven.
This unique, off-grid cabin, tucked away in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts a vast stargazing window above the king size bed and a vintage roll top bath on the private deck making it a hideaway not to be missed.
Ursa is a hand built cabin sited in a 4 acre field at Royal Oak Farm in the Blackdown Hills, a short drive away from the world famous Jurassic Coast.
The cabin has a fully equipped kitchenette with hot running water, a fridge, and a gas hob. The sumptuous king sized bed beneath a vast skylight window (fitted with a blackout curtain) makes the most of every opportunity to catch sight of a shooting star. The large en-suite shower room is fitted with a walk-in shower and vanity unit with a sink. A compost loo is accessed through a doorway from the shower room.
A wood burning stove will keep you toasty in the colder months and on chilly nights. We provide a basket of logs, kindling and fire lighters for your stay, additional ‘fire packs’ are available to purchase from us if you need more.
The spacious living-eating space has a comfortable sofa along with a table and chairs for two positioned to take in the view from the French windows which open out on to a large private deck.
On the private, screened deck you’ll find a dining area and down on the grass, a seating and a fire pit/bbq where you can cook, relax and to watch the stars or take in the view. The deck also boasts a refurbished roll top bath with hot running water so that you can enjoy a luxurious soak beneath the stars. A monocular, binoculars and star maps and books can be found in the cabin along with plenty of cosy, warm blankets to keep you toasty by the fire after dark.
The cabin is powered entirely from solar energy, with LPG gas for cooking and hot water, making your experience completely 'off-grid'. The site has 4G on most mobile networks but Wifi is not available in the cabins. We invite guests to make the most of being able to switch off and unwind away from the bustle of daily life. The cabin has a usb charging point for recharging phones. Please note that due to the 12v solar charged nature of the cabin there are no 13amp sockets.
Because we have livestock, we unfortunately cannot allow dogs on the farm.
