The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Hobbit House glamping in Yorkshire. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Hobbit Houses?
With a PROPER double bed plus two single beds (one a bunk) in our luxury Yorkshire glamping Hobbit Houses plus “Up-cycled” outdoor furniture (chairs/benches and tables) made from wooden pallets and decking, fairy lights, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, glasses, BBQ tools, portable single gas stove, kettle, and cushions and throws not to mention your own Log-burner inside and your own private campfire outside- there’s quite a lot included!
We suggest bringing a frying pan or two (no pans provided) for those tasty local bacon and eggs in the morning, brought to you by our friendly local butcher - on site on Saturday mornings!!
You will need to bring your own bedding, (none supplied) it is so much nicer having your own pillow you’ve got to admit! It can get a little cool during the night (even in mid-summer) so bring a nice warm duvet.
Other items you will need to bring yourselves include; dishcloths, bag of tealights, and perhaps a gazebo to shelter in from the (rain!) sun.
Our Hobbit Houses have fairy lights and no electricity for the very same reasons mentioned above…
Each House also has its own fire-pit.
In the ideal location for your North Yorkshire Glamping break, The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

This was our second visit to Baxby Manor and it was great to be back. Staff are friendly and the site is quiet and safe with excellent (and always spotless) facilities. Our hoglet house was incredibly cosy but with plenty of space, and there were some really nice touches like fairy lights and wood provided for the fire. Having the Pizza Shack on site is a real bonus for an easy meal. We would definitely visit again.

We have been to The Hideaway before a couple of times camping and loved it, most recently May last year. We decided to try a hibernation hoglet after seeing a brilliant Black Friday deal and it did not disappoint, it was clean and cosy, the log burner was set up ready to go and all in all, a fab stay despite a bit of rain! The facilities are second to none and that's one of the main reasons we keep coming back, the toilets and showers are super clean and excellent, everyone respects the no shoes policy and it's fab. We love the Pizza Shack, and my boy says they're the best chicken nuggets he's ever had! Thank you for another wonderful stay, we'll be back soon!

Beautiful hoggleton house with everything we needed. The log burner kept us cosy and warm all night. The toilet and shower block was immaculate. We had delicious pizzas delivered to our accommodation and a tasty breakfast in the morning. We live nearby but came for the experience and it met all my expectations and more! Can’t wait to stay again!

Me and my partner stayed in a hoglet house just for one night. But honestly I could’ve stayed for much longer (price allowing!) It was so wonderfully snug with the log burner and making a fire right outside to toast marshmallows over was a great winter experience. I would love to come back in summer with friends and make the most of the light nights sat around the fire and explore the local area when the weather is dryer! Great facilities like spotless toilets and showers with plenty of hot water (takes a min to warm up so I panicked at first!) and ample vegan options for me and my partner. The chap looking after us had everything we needed :)
