The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Eco Pod glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Eco Pods?

Unlike most glamping pods’ ours have proper beds in them…and mattresses! This double pod sleeps up to two people for a North Yorkshire Moors Glamping trip.

There is no electricity in the Eco Pods in Yorkshire because that just would not be eco-glamping, with soul now would it! There are lanterns for tealights though, so you can sit outside and gaze at the stars.

You will need to bring your own bedding (sheet, duvet/sleeping bag and pillows) and perhaps some chairs for sitting around the campfire and toasting some marshmallows. Each glamping Eco Pod has its own fire-pit and there are no cooking facilities inside so bring a camping stove with you so you do not have to crank up the fire in the morning for that bacon sarnie!

The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

Even though we are only a few miles from the market towns of Thirsk and Easingwold you would be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of nowhere!

The variety of scenery around us provides endless possibilities for walking, cycling and touring – North to the vast dramatic open landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors; West to the green valley pastures of the Yorkshire Dales, beloved of our famous local vet – James Herriot – and Bronte Country; South through the rich farmlands of the Vale of York, to the City, with its glorious Minster, Jorvik Museum and the National Rail Museum; East to the Wolds and coast – picturesque fishing villages, Whitby old town’s quaint streets, imposing cliff top Abbey and Dracula legend, plus the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey.

The campsite has been thoughtfully designed so that it doesn't feel as though you are in a field with lots of people. The small clusters of camping areas between trees, shrubs and some longer grass lends itself to a more intimate camping experience. The fire pits in the ground for each pitch are a great addition - who doesn't want a real fir e when they're camping? The toilets and showers are the best we have encountered in many years of camping and were always immaculately clean, even in peak season. The rule of shoes off or wearing plastic overshoes is legend! Why have other camp sites not thought of this? No outdoor shoes results in sparkly clean washing facilities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are just the right amount of rules that everyone appeared to respect and adhere to during our stay. You've probably gathered that The Hideaway is our new favourite campsite!
