Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful towns and villages near by. Access to the South Downs National Park and the coast is easy, while Brighton is only half an hour by car and London only one hour away. There really is something for everyone.
The Cafe by the Lake is our restaurant and bar which is open to both those staying on site and the general public.
Swallow's Hide, is the ultimate in luxury glamping in West Sussex and would tempt even the most reluctant campers. Situated on the bank of the Sumners Lake at Sumners Ponds Fishery & Campsite the outlook and atmosphere is unrivalled.
The glamping safari tent itself can sleep a family of four between two bedrooms, one double room and one bunk room. A BBQ, fridge, cooking equipment, glassware, crockery and cutlery are provided. Drinking water is available on the veranda. Although there aren't toilet or shower facilities in Swallow's Hide, the luxury amenity block and washing up facilities are located just behind. Worried it might get cold at night? The log burning stove will keep you cosy and warm even in the winter months. Towels are not provided. Dogs are not allowed to stay in the Safari Tents.

The only downside is the prices have shot up. Stayed last year, approx same dates and prices have gone up for a 3 day w/end at £403 to £603 in 2022! The very late check-in time (4pm) and early check-out (10am) means it’s just a weekend away so feel it’s a bit pricey?! Staff always very friendly & had a great weekend.

Great little glamping spot with great facilities. Different food vans on a weekend, plus a cafe serving food and drinks daily. Fishing was great and a lovely little children splat area too. Would recommend

I have been to Sumners before and absolutely love the tranquility, the wildlife is lovely to watch while my family do there fishing 🎣. The facilities are very clean but the shower did fluctuate with the water temperature so it got very cold or very hot and sometimes in between. I had one issue with our stay this time, we was staying in the Safari tent which is very nice but they where building a new one close to where we was and they started using tools at 8.15am but to be fair the ducks and birds woke me up very early so I was awake anyway but you don't really want to be listening to the sounds of work being done on holiday. Overall we had a great stay and will be back.

The sofa is the most uncomfortable I ever sat on. Sorry but now stayed 3 times and it's will be our last, Sumners lakeside is being over developed which will ruin the fishing

Both times the helpfulness of the people working there and the pretty setting coaxing me back. We managed to achieve the impossible, we caught a fish on the lake we were staying at! Reading other reviews and spending 6 nights fishing that lake, next time I visit I'll take my tent as having a swim where we stay doesn't return enough to justify. We had the Swallow Hide safari tent this time which included fishing from that swim, which was better than the Hut as that added £70 for no fish. It took c3hrs to warm the place and the full basket of logs went in 4hrs. I wish I took my little 2kw heater, that would have taken the edge off much quicker. And at £10 a refill for logs we wish we'd have stopped at one of the places selling logs along the way there. The trick is that bigger logs burn slower and kick out more heat, the small ones just vanish in 20mins. However after the CO2 alarm went off and I opened all the window flaps for a couple of hours it didn't take as long to warm up once closed again. We tried a day at Betty's Lake, nothing coming out anywhere around that lake. So another day we took off to the match lake and after paying again had a better day's fishing. All in all Sumners Ponds is pretty, extremely well looked after and everything is built to a very high quality. Paying for fishing and not expecting to catch at the lake feels wrong, as does having to pay to use other lakes. Once you accept and get over it everyone had a wonderful time.

We had a great time at Sumners pond in the safari tent. It was really modern and had everything we needed, was clean too. Staying in winter the log burner and electric blankets really made it comfortable as it was so cold. Husband enjoyed the fishing, the private deck was cool and the children enjoyed the novelty of the tent. Toilets and wash facilities were really clean. Playground could do with a bit more to it but no big problem. Just a shame there was a noisy party in the pod right behind us on the second night, didn’t spoil it completely but didn’t really expect that from a fishing campsite so left us all quite tired.

I am.disbled and could not.fish for the.first 3 days. The decking.eas very slippy and it was dangerous to walk on..Maybe the campsite can consider putting some glued down sand on.the decking.(Swallowd hide). Accusation was very good and We had no other complainys
