Set in the grounds of a Historic House of almost 700 years, The Hamlet at Samlesbury Hall brings a modern take on the quirky, medieval nature of the building.

We have 18 beautiful Shepherd's Huts available, each of which really operates as its own room. There is accommodation for up to four people in each hut with two memory foam mattresses in a bunk bed style layout. There are plug sockets with USB ports for low wattage electricity, alongside a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities (of course!). All of this comes with an en-suite bathroom and power shower. Bedding, towels and toiletries are all provided for your stay. All of our huts are fitted with central heating, to keep you warm in the winter months and to allow the Hamlet to open all year round! Breakfast can be added onto your stay if you wish. It will be served in the Restaurant of the Main Hall the following morning.

Book to stay in one hut or bring your family and friends and book a few, there's plenty to choose from! We allow dogs in one of our huts, so bring along your furry friends too!

Per chance you want to risk a wander around the grounds of one of the most haunted locations in Britain, you are more than welcome to! Who knows what you might spot? The Hall does offer overnight ghost hunts throughout the year so keep an eye out for events coming up. Samlesbury Hall itself is open everyday, except Saturdays and the occasional Friday when we have weddings taking place. The Hamlet, however, is open all year! The Hall is free to enter and to have a look around, with guided tours taking place on Sundays (again, all free!). Follow this with a lovely lunch in our restaurant or even treat yourself to a waffle and ice-cream in Dottie's Wafflery! During school holidays there are numerous activities taking place for children at the Hall, team this with a trip to see our mini farm of pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits. Follow the woodland trail and spent hours of fun on the Mayflower Play Area! After a busy day spent at the Hall, what is better than returning to your hut for a relaxing evening around the Fire Pit.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and not just at the Hall, we are only half an hour away from Blackpool, Lancaster and Lytham if you fancy a trip out, or if you'd prefer something a bit more local we are only 5 minutes away from Brockholes Nature Reserve and the famous Preston Guild Wheel cycle route.

"Very inviting with strings of lights. Nice site layout."

M Dunstan - Stayed with partner, Mar 2020

Nice accommodation, but I wonder if the huts would benefit from some permanent ventilation. Ours was running with condensed water on the back of the front door. Maybe an extractor fan in the shower room?

It was warm and cozy but locked in - think rain warped lock but not that safe if you needed to get out in a rush

I booked one of your Shepherd's huts for myself and my husband and my son during half-term week to celebrate his 7th birthday. Originally, we'd booked to stay Monday - Tuesday but, due to work commitments I had to change the date to Friday - Saturday. When I booked it I enquired what was on for kids and was told about the storytelling and treasure hunt sessions along with the animals, mini golf etc. that you offer which sounded great. I was aware that it was closed on Saturdays but thought we could make the most of the facilities on the Friday. Unfortunately, when I changed my booking no one thought to tell me that the hall was closed on the Friday for a wedding! I chanced across this information when refreshing my memory of your park on Thursday afternoon. Despite the weather forecast being pretty terrible I figured we'd still come and get some lunch then dodge the showers and visit the animals, play mini golf and get a treat at your wafflery. It was only when we arrived on Friday that we were told the restaurant and all of your facilities - including the outdoor ones - were closed to the public due to the wedding. What followed was a boring afternoon sat in the hut in the rain with a fed up 7 year old - not exactly the birthday treat we'd envisaged! I appreciate that you are primarily a wedding venue but would suggest that you clearly state this to your guests when booking, especially when this is outside the usual Saturday closures!

"Would definitely recommend"

A Rumble - Stayed with family, Feb 2020

Fantastic accommodation for the night of a family wedding, but we loved the shepherds huts so much we would definitely consider going back. Staff were friendly and helpful, with no problems with our stay. The huts may look small but they're actually very roomy... We stuck the heating on an hour or so before hitting the sack and it was more than cosy in there.

The shepherd's hut was warm and dry, even with Storm Dennis raging outside. It was a great location for wedding accommodation. My only minor issue was not being able to wheel my suitcase over the gravel to the hut. Having arrived by public transport I was not able to park a car next to my hut, so had to carry my suitcase for some distance to reach it. I would also recommend taking a pair of flat shoes to walk on the gravel after wedding celebrations!

"Do not take your children, Extremely rude staff!!!!"

Ms K Selby - Stayed with family, Feb 2020

There were 7 children only attending the wedding, 4 of which were my grandchildren and 2 from the bride's party. Ages of the children are 7,6 4,2 and 3 babies at 1 year old. The day started at 11am as we had booked the hall to be exclusive to us, thats when guests were arriving and the wedding ceremony was at 1pm, it was then photographs and then the wedding breakfast approx 3.30-4pm. Now as a grandmother to 5 children, 3 of whom are just 1 year old babies, I decided that 11am of arrival to 3.30pm was such a long time to wait to eat and they would have been hungry which leads to upset children throughout the ceremony, so I packed each child a small lunch box up which consisted of just a ham sandwich, a few crisps and a pink wafer, each were sat quietly eating their packed lunch, and I was purchasing all their drinks from the bar along with my own when a young woman with the name of Laura came from a room behind the bar and extremely rudely stated to me that my grandchildren could not eat their little lunches as we cannot bring our own food!!! I tried to kindly explain that it would be a long time before they eat as they are all very young and won't understand they have to wait as explained earlier, but she immediately and in a really aggressive tone and manner, loudly said no! It is not allowed!! Now you try taking food from a 1 year old hungry baby, well I was not willing to do that,no way, I asked if she would like to take the sandwich of them and she just repeated herself more rudely. Hence I did not take the snack away from my children, she was not happy hence why I was getting angry stares and no table manners or politeness when being served for the remainder of my son's wedding day!! It was a horrible atmosphere on what should have been a happy day!! After everyone had eaten and the music was playing the children were running around (as children do) my daughter was asked again aggressively to make them sit down!!!!! They were simply playing with their toys which i had brought to keep them occupied .. another statement was made by another staff member saying oh my god why can't they keep their kids still!!! I am utterly appalled at the nasty customer service from these 2 employees, my son and his wife and theirs families paid to samelsbury hall alot of hard earned money and savings to make their day special and everyone was totally saddened by the 2 women with the angry, rude aggressive, and downright horrible attitudes that they had. They should not in any way be working at the front of house. I will be emailing the hall itself for a written apology.

"A perfect place for a wedding or a quiet weekend!"

J Cook - Stayed with family, Jan 2020

The shepherds huts are amazing and the staff are fantastic. The first time I stayed I booked the wrong date and the staff were very accommodating and easily moved it to the correct date. Lindsey and Helena have both been fantastic but all the staff are very friendly... The shepherds huts are amazing and the staff are fantastic. The first time I stayed I booked the wrong date and the staff were very accommodating and easily moved it to the correct date. Lindsey and Helena have both been fantastic but all the staff are very friendly and you genuinely feel that nothing is too much trouble for them. The ability to sit round a fire and cook outside and then get into a very comfy double bed is the reason I enjoy glamping here so much. the fact that there is a beautiful stately home with free admission is a bonus and there is a small farm with chickens and pigs and goats! I would highly recommend Samlebury Hall either for a couples get away or a family with younger children. It also makes an ideal location for a wedding as all the guests can stay on site!
