There is a kettle to make a pot of tea on the woodburner as well as cups, plates, bowls and cutlery. All linen with the exception of towels is provided. The huts have rechargeable lanterns to provide lighting. The shower block is nearby with hot showers, toilets, laundry and washing up facilities. There is now electricity in the huts. A firepit/bbq and outdoor furniture is provided for each hut so you can enjoy the breathtaking views and surrounding woodlands and wildlife.

Situated in the heart of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Holiday Park and Campsite offers visitors the most spectacular location from which to explore and enjoy the Lake District.

Nestling in an idyllic oak woodland setting on a traditional Lakeland sheep farm, the area is a haven for wildlife with stunning views to the mountains. Yet the pretty village of Nether Wasdale with its 2 wonderful country inns serving hearty meals and fine ales, is only a two minute stroll away.

Whether you wish to simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this unspoilt valley or take advantage of the many opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling and kayaking or visit some of West Cumbria’s many attractions, Church Stile is your perfect location.

Things To Do while glamping in Wasdale in the Lake District

Wasdale is one of the big mountain valleys of the Lake District with the stunning scenery making a wonderful backdrop for your glamping holiday. The valley is home to England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike), deepest lake (Wastwater) and smallest church (St Olaf’s). Church Stile lies at the heart of the valley in the pretty village of Nether Wasdale making it the ideal base for your holiday.

Wasdale offers wonderful walks both on the high fells and valley bottom. Wasdale head is nearby leading to Scafell Pike (977 m) and Great Gable (899 m) while others such as Yewbarrow and Kirk Fell are also easily reached.

Lying just 1 mile from Church Stile, Wastwater Lake, England’s deepest lake allows kayaks, canoes and rowing boats. There are numerous places to picnic or swim. The view across the lake was voted ‘Britain’s Best View’ in 2009.

The staff were very friendly and only too happy to help with directions I enquired about. My one constructive suggestion is a small change to the leaflet or location driving instructions - the arrow @ present is between Ravenglass and Gosforth. If it could be moved so that it is clear that one should turn off the A595 @ Gosforth it might make it easier to find. Following my sat nav's instructions took me off before Gosforth and I appeared to be heading for a campsite called "The Old Post Office camp site". I came to Church Stile entrance eventually, but I was tempted to turn round thinking the sat nav had sent me down the wrong road.

"Shepherd's hut"

Mr D Collings - Stayed with partner, May 2019

We loved the cosiness of the shepherd's hut. It was beautifully decorated and very clean, with plenty of wood for the woodburner. Having electricity was brilliant, so we brought our own toaster. It was beautifully decorated and very clean, with plenty of wood for the woodburner. Having electricity was brilliant, so we brought our own toaster. We also appreciated the unexpected addition of a kettle, washing up bowl and liquid etc. The light provided was efficient, and we were glad we remembered a torch because the site is very dark during the nighttime. The site was also very quiet with fabulous views which we loved!

"Lovely weekend at Church Stile Farm & Holiday Park."

A group of 20 of us had traveled up to the Lake District to walk Scafell Pyke and were welcomed in without any problems. Our time at the site was very enjoyable. The wash room / shower units were very clean and tidy. The site staff were very friendly and helpful providing us with cooked breakfasts and pack-ups for the day at a very reasonable price. The excellent local pub and pub-restaurant were located just outside of the site and we made good use of them. 10 out of 10 rating from me :)

We stayed in Sheppard's hut 'shearling' clean and spacious with good view of the surrounding areas. Firewood and BBQ provided which was good. Park very clean and well kept, staff lovely and helpful. WiFi only in reception area which was nice for us as it made us take time away from phones but not to everyone's liking so with a mention. No phone signal. Also, the shower water was not that hot, just luke warm, and no shower curtain in-between the shower and bench which would have been helpful
