The Shepherd's Hut comes with a luxurious kingsize 5-star grade bed and a supply of firewood for your wood-burning stove. With lake, mountain and forest views, your stay comes with crisp white 100% cotton bedding & Donegal handmade tweed blankets, fluffy towels, hot water bottles, and rechargeable lanterns.
You have your own private outdoor porch with seating, a secure locker to keep your valuables, and allocated storage and fridge space in the Lodge kitchen. You will also have your own plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery, etc for duration of your stay.
All guests have use of the Lodge which is a communal amenity eco-building built with straw and mud. A unique and beautiful building, it provides glamping guests with a large kitchen, loos & wet room showers (no shared changing-rooms) as well as the big lounge area in the Reciprocal Room with spiralling beams overhead and huge fireplace - a beautiful space bathed in light with panoramic views where you can relax and zone out, read a book or chat with fellow guests.
The Shepherd's Hut is completely off-grid, a true escape from the constant connectivity of modern life! Rechargeable lanterns and candles create a magical atmosphere in this incredibly cosy and romantic glamping getaway. Guests are assigned a secure locker in the Lodge where mobile devices can be recharged.
Lough Mardal Lodge offers the opportunity to truly escape from the white noise of modern living and constant-connectivity - we strongly recommend you lock up your gadgets and relax, unwind and disconnect during your stay! With that in mind the communal hang out space, the Reciprocal Room, in the Lodge is a gadget-free zone. There is a comfortable space in the Lobby however where guests are free to use their devices.
The 90 acre site allows for a wide number of on-site activities including wild swimming, fishing, kayaking, hill-walking, hiking and cycling with bike-hire available on site.
Local activities include surf lessons and beach horse-riding with some of Donegal's most beautiful sandy beaches, Rossnowlagh and Murvagh, a 15 minute drive away.
As an Intermediary Member of Sustainable Travel Ireland, we believe passionately in offering guests a sustainable holiday experience and have a Sustainability Policy in place for guests and staff.
