This Sea and Moorland shepherds hut is different in that you all have your own privacy and bit of wild living. We are not offering manicured lawns and corporate style holiday units - We are offering you a "Piece of Heaven" in that you are living and breathing Exmoor in all its wild beauty. Sea View hut has a double and a small single bed. It has electricity and has full kitchen facilities as well as a fire pit. It is the closest hut to the farmhouse but still gives you total privacy.
It has a gas fired shower and a compostable loo. There is a fan and a large paddling pool can be hired for those hot days.
Superb walking, birdwatching, horse riding (stables available), swimming in the sea, cycling or just star watching (we live in the dark skies area of Exmoor) and sitting by the camp fire. Only 150 steps along our drive and you are on the open moors where you could walk all day without seeing a single soul yet only two miles away from Lynmouth and Lynton which is also known as 'Little Switzerland'. Lynton and Lynmouth are in an area of incomparable beauty within Exmoor National Park. Sweeping hills and valleys nestle between both and spectacular cliffs surround the area. Rivers wind through wooded valleys on their way to the sea, occasionally interrupted by tumbling waterfalls. The remarkable Valley of the Rocks is less than two miles away and is a must see with its wild and ancient goats and stunning sunsets.
The Lorna Doone Valley is within 8 miles of your hut.
There is a Victorian fishing lodge at Watersmeet (only 1.5 miles away) which a now run by the National Trust and the area which has dramatic waterfalls is very much worth a visit. Inland there are numerous walks through the rugged scenery of the National Park with over 600 miles of marked footpaths.
Exmoor itself has abundant wildlife including ponies, sheep, goats and red deer. Overhead you should see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. Enjoy the rare sound of the cuckoo in the early spring. The surrounding coastline and countryside boast some of the most awe inspiring and spectacular sea and hillside views you can find. There are some amazing walks that can be taken and local restaurants, pubs, cafes, tea rooms and various craft, boutique, novelty and antique shops are all within easy reach at Lynton and Lynmouth, which has a beautiful harbour with waterside pubs and award winning tea shops. A perfect place to finish off the day after a walk on the moors..
