The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for treehouse glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different why not book yourself into our luxury treehouse?
Perched on a hillside in woodland belonging to the 14th Century medieval Baxby Manor access to Rufus’s Roost is via a raised boardwalk! Rufus’s Roost has its own entirely secluded space with uninterrupted views through the tree canopy across to the North Yorkshire Moors and the White Horse of Kilburn. Between the two turrets there is a large veranda for alfresco dining complete with a log-fired pizza oven and a hot-tub! For the cold dark winter months there is a "Den” complete with bean bags, comfy cushions, TV, games console, movies and popcorn machine, accessed via slide! Rufus’s Roost sleeps up to six people in three separate treetop bedrooms (three doubles). There is also a swish bathroom and modern kitchen dining area.
All bedding and towels are provided so you just need to bring yourselves plus food and drink! Can you imagine anything more relaxing than this hot tub glamping trip in Yorkshire?
Situated on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, Rufus’ Roost Luxury Treehouse is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.
There are endless possibilities for walking, cycling and touring when you go glamping in Yorkshire – North to the vast dramatic open landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors; West to the green valley pastures of the Yorkshire Dales, beloved of our famous local vet – James Herriot – and Bronte Country; South through the rich farmlands of the Vale of York, to the City, with its glorious Minster, Jorvik Museum and the National Rail Museum; East to the Wolds and coast – picturesque fishing villages, Whitby old town’s quaint streets, imposing cliff top Abbey and Dracula legend, plus the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey.

This is a truly magical place to stay! We were so impressed when we first saw the treehouse, sat peacefully amongst the trees, overlooking the countryside. Beautiful interior. Every thing we could possibly need in the kitchen area! Comfortable beds, lovely outside decking area with hot tub.We ate at the Plum and Partridge a short walk away. Lovely food! We would like to return in the summer and bring the children. All in all a lovely break!

We knew we were in for a treat, but as we walked the boardwalk to Rufus roost it became apparent its magical. The attention to detail in the quirky craftsmanship was high standard and on entering the main door we were all simply blown away. Simply stunning. Dimmed lighting, ambient music playing, a beautiful local welcome pack, with a touch of seasonal decor was all such a lovely touch, to set the mood. The kids couldn’t wait to explore. We ordered amazing pizza’s from the shack before telling the kids they had a find a secret door. On discovering the slide and games den their faces were a joy to see, needless to say thing spent quite a bit of time in there. Shooting stars from the hot tub, deer in the field with a cuppa on the veranda, luxurious beds and a cosy warm, relaxing, beautiful space was simply the rest and recharge we needed. We returned to the shack for amazing fish and chips and the pub in the village again served a high standard of food. Thanks Barney and the team.

Just spent a relaxing weekend break in the tree house, what a gem. There are no other lodges nearby so definitely on your own with just the birds and squirrels for company. Accommodation is clean and well equipped, kids will love the den, down the slide. Marshmallows and hot chocolate in the woods by the firepit.Highly recommended.

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay at Rufus’s Roost. All ages catered for and it was a wonderful family break. The location and amenities were perfect with the weather being kind. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

We stayed for 4 nights and had a magical time. The treehouse is superbly kitted out and we were lucky enough to have great weather. The camp site host was great and very helpful. The location is stunning and some great local walks and good pubs. A definite recommendation.
