The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for treehouse glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different why not book yourself into our luxury treehouse?

Perched on a hillside in woodland belonging to the 14th Century medieval Baxby Manor access to Rufus’s Roost is via a raised boardwalk! Rufus’s Roost has its own entirely secluded space with uninterrupted views through the tree canopy across to the North Yorkshire Moors and the White Horse of Kilburn. Between the two turrets there is a large veranda for alfresco dining complete with a log-fired pizza oven and a hot-tub! For the cold dark winter months there is a "Den” complete with bean bags, comfy cushions, TV, games console, movies and popcorn machine, accessed via slide! Rufus’s Roost sleeps up to six people in three separate treetop bedrooms (three doubles). There is also a swish bathroom and modern kitchen dining area.

All bedding and towels are provided so you just need to bring yourselves plus food and drink! Can you imagine anything more relaxing than this hot tub glamping trip in Yorkshire?

Situated on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, Rufus’ Roost Luxury Treehouse is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

There are endless possibilities for walking, cycling and touring when you go glamping in Yorkshire – North to the vast dramatic open landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors; West to the green valley pastures of the Yorkshire Dales, beloved of our famous local vet – James Herriot – and Bronte Country; South through the rich farmlands of the Vale of York, to the City, with its glorious Minster, Jorvik Museum and the National Rail Museum; East to the Wolds and coast – picturesque fishing villages, Whitby old town’s quaint streets, imposing cliff top Abbey and Dracula legend, plus the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey.

Fully equipped kitchen and large living space limited storage in bedrooms but more than adequate. Had lovely homage pizzas from the oven on the decking. Great instructions and helpful owners we did have to nip out to buy tea bags but it was no drama Possible idea is a rollout canopy so you can still sit outside on the deck in the rain

From the warm welcome and twinkling lights when we arrived to the owl that greeted us on the gate to the private wood, we knew we were entering a very special place. All our work stresses and the children's bickering disappeared as we immediately settled in at the wonderful, luxurious treehouse. The sparkling Christmas tree and beautifully understated decorations filled us with Christmas joy. Over our long weekend we had fun together playing games by the crackling log fire, relaxed and admired clear starlit skies from the hot tub, toasted marshmallows in the woodland firepit and played with the children building dens and hide and seek. One of the highlights for the children was sliding down the secret slide into the games room, we delighted in this too hearing their laughter and chatter as we sipped wine and chilled out whilst dinner was cooking in the very well stocked kitchen area. This place really is magical! We can't wait to come back.

This amazing piece of architecture tucked away in the woods overlooking the Yorkshire countryside. Rufus's Roost is furnished to the highest quality whilst still very in keeping with its build. There is a secret slide into a games room. There is a beautiful welcome hamper and all the information on hand for an amazing stay. Did I mention there is a hot tub on the balcony?! EV charging points are available which perfectly compliments what is clearly an eco friendly venue. This location is tucked away and easily homes 6 people with 3 separate sleeping locations. We took our 15 month old and he had a wonderful time. IF YOU'RE WONDERING ABOUT STAYING HERE, ALL I WOULD SAY IS DO IT! It's something which will stay with you for the rest of your days.

From walking down the gangway to seeing all the beautiful hand carved furniture and finding the magic trap door that led down the slide to the den - it was amazing. We loved the hot tub even when it was raining outside and we enjoyed drinking red wine by the fire after spending a few hours out and about. We had the best Sunday roast at the pub in the village and we also took a trip out to Kilburn to see the white horse and the gliders. What a fantastic weekend and we’d love to return again some day. Thank you guys!

The treehouse had been decorated for the time of year, which was a lovely touch! We did some forest walks, and enjoyed everything Rufus's Roost has to offer. There are some magical elements to it - like the slide down to the secret games den! The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone, and the kitchen is kitted out with everything you need to self-cater for your stay. We didn't want to leave at the end of our stay.. And we will definitely come back!

There was a small gift basket with goodies waiting for us, which was a lovely touch and went down very well. The beds were comfortable too. There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and a bunkbed up on the mezzanine level. Our youngest son found the top bunk a bit too close to the ceiling. The views from the house are lovely and using the hot tub at night, looking at the stars, was magical. We just wish we knew where we could switch on the fairy lights for then (they are on a timer and come on later at night) The secret den under the stairs was appreciated by the children too!) The only thing that would have made the stay even better would be not having to strip the beds and clean the place along with having some extra towels for when using the hot tub as there wasn't really anywhere to hang lots of towels to dry. Other than that, this place is magical and one of those bucket-list kind of places.

"Peaceful seclusion in the spacious treehouse & a sourdough pizza shack on the main site"

T Sweeten - Stayed with family, Sep 2022

Loved the wider area of wood to muck about in, with the fire pit, especially the lighting at night. The pizza shack was fabulous and we would happily have eaten pizza all week and not taken any food at all. The surrounding area was new to us all and so beautiful. It's... The pizza shack was fabulous and we would happily have eaten pizza all week and not taken any food at all. The surrounding area was new to us all and so beautiful. It's certainly not cheap to stay at the treehouse but compared to similarly expensive holidays we loved this so much and are still feeling the glow weeks later.
