The tent has electricity, a double futon bed, an electric woodburner effect stove, a picnic table and a fire pit. The tent is for 2 adults but it is possible to bring 2 children (bring your own blow up mattresses). Adult occupancy is not to be exceeded under any circumstances. Situated in the heart of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Holiday Park and Campsite offers visitors the most spectacular location from which to explore and enjoy the Lake District.

Nestling in an idyllic oak woodland setting on a traditional Lakeland sheep farm, the area is a haven for wildlife with stunning views to the mountains. Yet the pretty village of Nether Wasdale with its 2 wonderful country inns serving hearty meals and fine ales, is only a two minute stroll away.

Wasdale is home to England’s deepest lake, highest mountain and smallest church and yet the wonderful beaches on Cumbria’s coastline are only a few miles distant. Whether you wish to simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this unspoilt valley or take advantage of the many opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling and kayaking or visit some of West Cumbria’s many attractions, Church Stile is your perfect location.

Things To Do while glamping in Wasdale in the Lake District

Wasdale is one of the big mountain valleys of the Lake District with the stunning scenery making a wonderful backdrop for your glamping holiday. The valley is home to England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike), deepest lake (Wastwater) and smallest church (St Olaf’s). Church Stile lies at the heart of the valley in the pretty village of Nether Wasdale making it the ideal base for your holiday.

Wasdale offers wonderful walks both on the high fells and valley bottom. Wasdale head is nearby leading to Scafell Pike (977 m) and Great Gable (899 m) while others such as Yewbarrow and Kirk Fell are also easily reached.

Lying just 1 mile from Church Stile, Wastwater Lake, England’s deepest lake allows kayaks, canoes and rowing boats. There are numerous places to picnic or swim. The view across the lake was voted ‘Britain’s Best View’ in 2009.

The facilities are very good, friendly staff and a nice quiet campsite at night! We have had many issues with noise at night with the last few campsites we have used and nobody seemed to care or enforce it. Church Stile was very quiet at night time with a very good and relaxed atmosphere. If you are thinking of visiting this site, then its definitely recommended by us!

Church Stile was a brilliant little campsite :) After a 4 hour drive to get there, it was refreshing to have an easy check in and a lovely spot for a few days. Everything was clean and in good order and there were hot showers and clean loos. we booked last minute and the staff were really accommodating and was able to fulfil our requests at no bother. We only had one small problem. We stayed in the beautiful Bell Tent with fab electic heater, kettle and lamps. however, we found that the Bell Tent was extremely close to our neighbours in a glamping pod. You can also see into the Shepherds Hut accross the way from the entrance. There was also a camping field right next to it with only a 1ft hedge between with a tent at the back of us only a couple of metres away. We came away for my partners birthday and the Bell tent was advertised as "romantic" getaway, well as you imagine, having people in such close quarters made it less romantic. I understant space is tight and we were lucky our neighbours were lovely but if we had known how close to everyone we would have been we may not have booked. If it was a normal camping holiday with family and friends, then this site is perfect. if you are wanting a romantic getaway with your other half... maybe not so. All that being said, we had a really brilliant time. The cafe served brilliant butties and brews in a morning and the selection is vast. The shop is well stocked and last but not least every single member of staff we encountered were very helpful and we couldnt have asked for a better service. maybe just move the bell tent into a corner?? Thank you for our lovely stay and we look forward to coming again.

It was very easy to find the campsite and the directions given in the confirmation email were accurate. We arrived and we did not really know what to expect. The site is very big with lots of space for children, which is a safe place for them to play. We stayed in the bell tent (glamping) for three nights, which was amazing, with a sofa bed / heater / picnic table / bag of logs and fire pit all provided for us. We then extended our stay for an extra 2 nights for a tent and gazebo because we were really enjoying our stay. The staff were very helpful and flexible in allowing us to stay the extra 2 nights and allowed us to set up near to the bell tent for convenience which was very useful. It is very near Wast Water and Scarfell Pike and I have already recommended some friends and family to stay at the campsite. The campsite is well kept and the toilets are cleaned regularly so definitely consider staying here if you want a campsite near Wasdale. Many thanks to the staff at the campsite for making our stay welcoming, memorable and enjoyable.

The price was reasonable. The washing facilities were adequate and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The park is situated in the middle of nowhere, with a pub and a couple of hotels next door. Close by is nature and a really nice lake. If you need internet access, be aware that you will reach no mobile network in the area. The only way is to use the site's wifi access point, which however is only available around the reception/shop building and a little lacky. We really liked staying here, and if we're ever back in the area, we sure will stay there again.
