Located over 1000 feet above sea level at the junction of Eaton, Alsop and Biggin Dales, Rivendale Caravan Park, a glampsite in the Peak District National Park is ideal for mountain biking, rambling and walking from trails and cycle ways leading directly from our site. The Tissington Trail – just 100 metres from our site entrance provides access to the “Trails Triangle” formed with the High Peak Trail and cycle way around Carsington Reservoir.

Our timber Peak District yurts situated at Rivendale are wooden hexagonal or octagonal glamping Yurts and, like the Camping Pods are ideal in cold and wet weather. The timber Yurts are available in 3 sizes, but all include some form of wood-burning stove or range, with power, lighting and an electric heater as a backup.

Small Timber Yurt sleeps up to 2 Adults and 2 Children.

We have a small dog friendly country style pub, The Prancing Pony, with open fires offering a selection of wines, drafts, bottles and spirits along with soft drinks. Please note: There is no food in the bar, however we are in close proximity to a number of eateries.

The Stables Cafe is open 9am - 5pm, which offers an open fire and serves a selection of tea/coffee and cakes only, in a dog friendly atmosphere.

First time.in a yurt so not expecting to have to provide our own bed, imagine our faces when told by staff. After chat with very sympathetic member of staff were given an upgrade to a cabin with a bed, this was not even acceptable to our dog,but at least it was closer to the toilet block, which was unisex and had cctv inside !! After a total of 4hrs sleep decided this was not for us

We liked that it was more secluded as the others yurts weren’t. Park setting was lovely. Wash and toilet facilities were much better than expected although we weren’t overly happy with finding cctv cameras in there!! They were clean and spacious, the park wasn’t overly busy so not sure if this would still be the case when it is. All staff were excellent. Nice little bar and on site shop. Shame there isn’t a restaurant there anymore as that would have been really nice. Overall lovely stay and would definitely return.

Me and my partner stayed in one of the wooden timber yurts for our anniversary last week. We arrived, staff were friendly and gave us a little map to our yurt. The yurt itself was great, a proper little hobbit home. Shower facilities were good and clean and only a few minutes walk from our yurt which wasn’t a problem at all. During the week the site was relatively quiet which we really enjoyed. However on the Friday night nearly all pitches were taken and we were stuck in between a big group. Whilst I didn’t mind it being busy I didn’t like that people were walking across our plot and were made to feel in the way. This wasn’t the fault of the campsite just other rude campers. Overall we would definitely come again as we had a great time but would only visit during the week.

The site was in a great location for the Tissington Trail and the reason we booked however our stay was far from ideal. We booked a timber yurt, on their website and requested to hire camp beds which the website said we could do. However after taking our money they said they no longer hire beds out. Which put us in a predicament to find beds. The site was clean and well maintained however there was only one toilet/shower block quite a distance from the yurts. The yurtbitself was pleasant. Unfortunately during our stay there was no water, which meant no showers no washing facilities, no drinking water and no flushing toilets. Which was a real problem as you can imagine. On leaving they asked if we had enjoyed our stay, I raised the issue of the water and was merely passed a slip of paper with Severn Trent’s telephone number to complain, seriously???! I was shocked in their response, no apology and thought it was acceptable to request their customers contact Severn Trent. Very poor!

We were really looking forward to the stay - the picture of the yurt on the gift voucher was lovely; there was a bed, lights, furniture so it looked like a lovely place to stay. Given the picture on the voucher vs the empty shed we turned up to, it was really quite a shock in terms of what we thought we were getting. Luckily we had thought ahead to bring bedding with us just in case and as we both like extra pillows. The staff in reception were as helpful as they could be but really didn't seem to know a lot about the products they were selling. We were also really disappointed that the bar was only open Friday and Saturday and the cafe only served hot drinks and cakes. At the time we stayed there was only about 5 other people on the site and no one else in any of the other yurts (most of which had some form of bed in and were closer than our 10 minute walk to the toilets) so as part of the customer experience we did feel there was opportunity for us to be given a nicer yurt closer to the facilities. Although we made light of the situation and made the most of our one night stay, we really won't be returning as there was nothing to do, nowhere close by to visit and the facilities really weren't what we expected

"holiday"

Mrs Miastowski - Stayed with friends, May 2018

We stayed in a yurt and found it went very cold in the early hours of the morning. It would have been nice if there were hooks to hang your clothes on. We had a nice relaxing time.

Stayed in small timber yurt on the edge of the park. Great location very private and close to nature. Timber yurt was spacious and much better than a tent!

However the yurt I stayed in had many loose floorboards and I tripped several times, nearly hitting my head on the stove on one occasion. I would recommend the park in general, but I wouldn't recommend the yurt to anyone.
