Located over 1000 feet above sea level at the junction of Eaton, Alsop and Biggin Dales, Rivendale Caravan Park, a glampsite in the Peak District National Park is ideal for mountain biking, rambling and walking from trails and cycle ways leading directly from our site. The Tissington Trail – just 100 metres from our site entrance provides access to the “Trails Triangle” formed with the High Peak Trail and cycle way around Carsington Reservoir.

Our timber Peak District yurts situated at Rivendale are wooden hexagonal or octagonal glamping Yurts and, like the Camping Pods are ideal in cold and wet weather. The timber Yurts are available in 3 sizes, but all include some form of wood-burning stove or range, with power, lighting and an electric heater as a backup.

Medium Timber Yurt sleeps up to 6.

We have a small dog friendly country style pub, The Prancing Pony, with open fires offering a selection of wines, drafts, bottles and spirits along with soft drinks. Please note: There is no food in the bar, however we are in close proximity to a number of eateries.

The Stables Cafe is open 9am - 5pm, which offers an open fire and serves a selection of tea/coffee and cakes only, in a dog friendly atmosphere.

"Facilities"

Mrs P Roach - Stayed with family, Jul 2018

Unfortunately there were no onsite food facilities, which was a disappointment. It would have been useful to have had another toilet/shower block as they were quite a distance from our yurt. Very clean though.

On a payé 80 livres pour cette cabane en bois qui ressemble plus à un abri de jardin qu'à un yurt et bien sûr nous n'avons pas fermé l'oeil de la nuit.

This time we brought the bikes and enjoyed a wooden yurt (given we can't fit the tents and bikes in our car). It was great not having to lay out a tent when we arrived and the yurt was in fantastic condition and well cleaned. It was lovely and cosy inside with plenty of room for all our stuff and to sleep. The wood burner stove was also a lovely feature and although we are normally happy to do without electricity, the power did help to make life easier at the end of a good day's cycling. The kids loved the play park and making friends and the facilities were always in great condition. This is a lovely park with a great choice of accommodation options to suit all family members. The area is also superb for cycling or hiking from site or heading out to other nearby areas in the peak district. It's also easy to find and the staff were friendly on arrival.

Mr D Tunks - Stayed with friends, Feb 2018

This was my third visit to rivendale and as always an enjoyable experience, so much so ive already booked again for later this year. The wash facilities were spotless as usual and the bar is very well priced for the area. Always a pleasure to stay here.

Miss C O'Hare - Stayed with friends, Jul 2017

Brilliant stay! Very peaceful and tranquill location. Only problems were the yert beds were uncomfortable and needed more padding, the bin men woke the whole yert up at 7am and the onsite cafe had ran out of sausage and there was a thick black hair in my friends breakfast. The toilet and wash facilities were nice, could do with more cleaning and updating. Apart from that brilliant location and we had a great stay and would return! Brilliant value for money

"Should have been great, could have been great ..... wasn't!"

We booked Rivendale for a family weekend away as a celebration for my parents 70th birthdays. We thought the wooden yurts would be a lot of fun with the added bonus of proper beds for a bit more comfort. Having made the booking, we later learnt that the spa would not be functioning for the time of our stay which was disappointing but not a massive problem. However on arrival we discovered a number of issues ...... the bunk beds in the yurts were not full size beds, they were very narrow and some of them very small. Not great when 2 of the adults are big men over 6ft tall. They also didn't have proper mattresses, just fold up type pillows that are usually used on sunbeds - certainly nothing comfortable enough for a good nights sleep. I don't understand why the bunk beds aren't full size with decent mattresses as there is plenty of room for this in the yurts. Also, one of the yurts had no ladder for the bunks and the top bunks had no edge bars .... so the plan for the younger children to sleep up there had to change, but there wasn't really space between the bed and the roof for an adult. When we tried to talk to the staff on reception about the ladder situation we were simply dismissed with a 'there never was a ladder' and a bit of shrug of the shoulders. We then realised overnight that one of the yurts had a really bad smell that was getting worse. It smelt like something had died under the yurt, or maybe it had been mopped with dirty water. But again the general attitude of the staff was poor although they did provide an air freshener which did absolutely nothing to disguise the smell. The map we were provided with showed a number of little pathways through to the toilet block from our position. After failing to find these we were simply told, 'oh they've been blocked up' . This meant the walk to the toilet block was quite a way from the Yurts .... and what we really couldn't understand is why the toilets were situated in the middle of the caravans where everyone has there own toilet, and far away from the tents and yurts. Overall we found the attitude of the staff really disappointing with no effort to help resolve our issues or even apologise or discuss. We did still have lovely weekend ..... despite Rivendale and not because of it. I think it's a shame they don't highlight these points prior to booking and that the staff are not more helpful.
