Located over 1000 feet above sea level at the junction of Eaton, Alsop and Biggin Dales, Rivendale Caravan Park, a glampsite in the Peak District National Park is ideal for mountain biking, rambling and walking from trails and cycle ways leading directly from our site. The Tissington Trail – just 100 metres from our site entrance provides access to the “Trails Triangle” formed with the High Peak Trail and cycle way around Carsington Reservoir.

Our Peak District Glamping pods are tent shaped, insulated timber huts with light, heaters and 16 amp power outlet and have proved to be comfortable during even the coldest weather! They are the ideal replacement for your tent, particularly in the winter:- The pods are already set up and ready to go when you arrive, completely weather proof so you're no longer having to deal with muddy ground sheets and wet fabrics. Pods are lockable and, being built from solid timber, are much more secure.

We have a small dog friendly country style pub, The Prancing Pony, with open fires offering a selection of wines, drafts, bottles and spirits along with soft drinks. Please note: There is no food in the bar, however we are in close proximity to a number of eateries.

The Stables Cafe is open 9am - 5pm, which offers an open fire and serves a selection of tea/coffee and cakes only, in a dog friendly atmosphere.

We explored the site it looked lovely the other pods looked a much better setting. The staff were friendly. The site is a gd base for exploring Ashbourne,Ilam and Dovedale.

I’m afraid that we’re so disappointed this time. We stayed on the main site before and loved it. I booked a mixed group in for pods and we’re told over the phone we’d all be together apart from two families and in fact only 2 were next to each other. I wish I’d had this explained more over the phone. we were really quite split up. Showers were lovely on main site but the toilet block in the shire was a disgrace by Sunday and stunk: we were on a really dark plot and the decks were really dirty and pod had cob webs: for 130 quid for 2 nights compared with others I’ve stayed at which are immaculate and bright and spacious I felt we got the rotten end of the stick. We couldn’t park next to the pod either and had a toddler. It just made everything hard work. Don’t be put off if you’re on the main site. That’s lovely and open. Can’t comment on the cleanliness of other pods.

Wash and shower facilities clean.. but shower had only one temperature..scalding! we love the area .. walks, picturesque villages if we go back we’d bring our own tent and camp in the meadow.. we loved the look of that area

"Rivendale stay"

Please update your website! Would have been useful to know no bedding provided. Also, we had a family pod but only one double futon and nothing for five year old. Wood fired pizza great Shower block clean and warm but no temp control on shower and too hot for 5 year... Please update your website! Would have been useful to know no bedding provided. Shame there was no view at all from pod...given in the Peak District - that’s a real shame. Just had view of a hedge. Fairy lights would be nice addition and to make more of Hobbit reference. Good basic stay but pod a little tired.

We found it to be a great location. The bar and cafe were warm and cosy and there was plenty to do locally. Only (minor) criticism is that it could perhaps do with a little more signage for the accomodation as the pod we were staying in was well hidden and took a while to find. Shower and toilet areas were VERY clean.

"A great site for a large family reunion with varying age groups and needs"

We picked the site for it's central location in England, and the fact that it could cater for all tastes from tents to camper vans, yurts and pods. It has it all. The facilities on site are great. Particularly the cafe and pub. Of which we sampled both. We would heartily recommend the breakfasts in the cafe. The toilet and washing facilities were very good. The showers were particularly good. Cleanliness could not be faulted. One of our group stayed in a large yurt. It was very well appointed. Their only criticism was the distance from the toilet block. It was a bit of a trek. We stayed in a pod. These are very basic, with just a heater and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was not very clean and it was a bit shabby with ripped covers. We covered it with blankets to sleep on. People in the tent field complained about the smell from the cess? Pit. It was pretty awful. However, hopefully this was a temporary glitch. Otherwise an excellent site, in a brilliant location, just off the Tissington trail. We walked to Biggin and can heartily recommend the Waterloo pub for lunch.

Nice having cafe on site - does get very busy. Childrens play area could benefit from additional apperatus. Limited number of showers for size of site meaning some queuing. Staff overall friendly and helpful. One member has an unfortunate sharp and abrupt manner. 2 toilets near the shires useful however, overall attention to detail with cleaning very poor. Lids & hinges of toilets dirty, bits of toilet paper on floor from morning until night. One unpleasant stain appeared on one toilet seat on the Friday evening & was still there on the Monday morning. Entry matting good for dirty wet footwear however needs cleaning or renewing more frequently - It had an overpowering smell of ''dirty old dish cloth'.

The pod was clean and in a nice location unfortunately the pod was leaning to one side making it feel uneven. The website stated that it would sleep 2 adults and 3 children but we were very cramped and once the beds where laid out they was only a very small space left. We paid extra to hire a futon sofa but it was very uncomfortable as a bed and we would of been more comfortable on air bed . Would stay here again but only if we brought our own camping unit. The site was very pretty and had lovely views. There was nice walks and attractions nearby.

Only stayed for one night but enjoyed our first pod experience. Nice and secluded. Heater and unexpected bed settee an added bonus!
