West Stow Pods is a glamping site situated in a privately owned woodland copse on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Our site is home to four fully self-contained en-suite Mega glamping pods (approximately 25 meters apart). Each of our glamping pods are fully fitted-out and can sleep up to four. The Pods are heated and soon heat up with body warmth to create a snug and cosy environment.

Each pod has a double bed and a double sofa-bed. There is a wet-room with a shower, basin and WC. The kitchenette has a sink, fridge, microwave/oven, toaster and kettle and you have your own dining table and chairs. The pods all come with freeview TV and a DVD player. The Pods have electrical points, heating and lighting.

Each glamping pod is set in a secluded area of woodland and includes a covered porch, picnic table and chairs and a barbeque.

Two of the pods are dog friendly.

The Mega Pod, made of wood, is designed to be comfortable. It has special roofing material designed to cut down the noise of heavy rain and lockable French doors that are double glazed to reduce condensation and provide sound insulation. The wood is a naturally warm material, with special sheep’s wool insulation and a foil layer that keeps the pod cool in summer, warm in winter.

West Stow Pods is a small, family run glamping site located in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, around four miles from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Created in 2013 by Jan and Ed Lengyel, West Stow Pods offers the very best in Suffolk glamping accommodation combined with beautiful surroundings. West Stow Pods glamping site is located on the outskirts of West Stow in Suffolk and is easily accessed from Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Haverhill.

You need to bring everything you would as though you were going camping i.e. your bedding, towels, BBQ equipment, plates, cups etc. Don’t worry if you forget anything, we can usually help you out!

Good walking and plenty to take in. Pod was very clean and well presented, well insulated too. Site security a little concerning as appeared to be left open overnight. Loo in the pod could smell quite rustic at times which was a bit off-putting since it's right next to the bed.

They are perfectly situated in a little woods. Each pod has a kitchenette, bathroom, TV, bed and sofabed. The host was very welcoming and there has been a lot of care put in to making sure the visitor has a lot of local information, which was excellent. My only reservation about us returning was the bed... it was incredibly hard as the mattress was very thin. I did not sleep particularly well both nights, I tried to move to the sofa and again I had the same problem which was a shame as it did affect the experience as I woke up in a lot of pain.

Great for two, if there had been four of us I would have wanted to know the others' very well! The toilet / shower room is compact to say the least but there is plenty of hot water and lots of pressure. We stayed in September and it was very warm inside. The Pods are near to each other but not too close, there is great walking nearby, a church and West Stow Saxon Village a mile down the road, not to mention Bury St. Edmunds and Thetford within 20 minutes drive. All in all we had a lovely time and may well return.

Our Pod did smell a little 'musty' and wasn't the cleanest of accommodation, the 'wet room' also was an all in 1 so it was a shower and a toilet in 1 which felt bizarre and not very clean.

I am so sorry that you found the quality of the cleaning to be below par on this occasion. I will speak with the cleaners to ensure that our hitherto excellent cleaning record is maintained. Obviously, space is of a premium in a MegaPod and this is the price to pay for not having to go outside. I'm so sorry that you found it unsatisfactory and musty. We have had an issue with one of the fans in one of the pods, in that a bird nested in it from the outside and caused the fan to "blow". This is currently being replaced as I write! I am sure this will rectify the problem! Sincere apologies once again. Regards, Ed

The pod was far more spacious than we'd anticipated. The bed and sofa were VERY comfy. The location was amazing for bird photography and relaxing in lovely countryside. Very peaceful. The pods were spaced nicely apart and we felt like we had the place to ourself even though there were people in the other pods.
