West Stow Pods is a glamping site situated in a privately owned woodland copse on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Our site is home to four fully self-contained en-suite Mega glamping pods (approximately 25 meters apart). Each of our glamping pods are fully fitted-out and can sleep up to four. The Pods are heated and soon heat up with body warmth to create a snug and cosy environment.

Each pod has a double bed and a double sofa-bed. There is a wet-room with a shower, basin and WC. The kitchenette has a sink, fridge, microwave/oven, toaster and kettle and you have your own dining table and chairs. The pods all come with freeview TV and a DVD player. The Pods have electrical points, heating and lighting.

Each glamping pod is set in a secluded area of woodland and includes a covered porch, picnic table and chairs and a barbeque.

Two of the pods are dog friendly.

The Mega Pod, made of wood, is designed to be comfortable. It has special roofing material designed to cut down the noise of heavy rain and lockable French doors that are double glazed to reduce condensation and provide sound insulation. The wood is a naturally warm material, with special sheep’s wool insulation and a foil layer that keeps the pod cool in summer, warm in winter.

West Stow Pods is a small, family run glamping site located in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, around four miles from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Created in 2013 by Jan and Ed Lengyel, West Stow Pods offers the very best in Suffolk glamping accommodation combined with beautiful surroundings. West Stow Pods glamping site is located on the outskirts of West Stow in Suffolk and is easily accessed from Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Haverhill.

You need to bring everything you would as though you were going camping i.e. your bedding, towels, BBQ equipment, plates, cups etc. Don’t worry if you forget anything, we can usually help you out!

"Lovely spot!"

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The pod itself was more spacious than expected and very comfy and cosy. It has everything you need for a break away, we loved the pod being inside the woodland. The hosts are very friendly and knowledgable, and made feel welcome in a completely new area. It is a unique and memorable stay, highly recommend.

"Nice little site"

L Robinson - Stayed with family, May 2019

The site is pretty small and parking is a squeeze but as there are only 5 pods and they are carefully positioned it does not feel crowded and there is a sense of privacy. The woodland location is very nice and there are loads of things to do nearby.

Had a great couple of days in our pod with husband and son. Old friends and their children and dog stayed in the lodge, and we all had a lovely getaway.

Arriving on site I felt the site was smaller than expected with little scope for venturing out of the pod. There was a dog walk suggested which was lovely but only accessed from the site by walking along the busy road which had no footpath so not highly recommended. I would suggest that this is not a site suitable for anyone wanting to walk a dog. We were promised super hot water which we had from the sink tap but the shower water was cold on both the days we stayed so myself and two companions had very quick showers. There were three of us adults staying in a pod which sleeps 4...Four people using this facility would have been awful. We were really lucky with the weather so spent all our time on site out of the pod. These ideally would house just two adults, with an additional child at a push. Lovely idea as an alternative to sleeping under canvas but we wont be venturing here again.

Hello, we're so sorry to hear that you didn't have enough hot water for your showers. The MegaPods do have a dinky water heater and only last for about 4 minutes. This should have been pointed out to you upon arrival..apologies if it wasn't! No one likes a cool shower!... Hello, we're so sorry to hear that you didn't have enough hot water for your showers. The MegaPods do have a dinky water heater and only last for about 4 minutes. This should have been pointed out to you upon arrival..apologies if it wasn't! No one likes a cool shower! It's a shame you didn't mention this to us, as we could have explained this in more detail. Regarding the walk to Culford Park, along the road; the road can, at peak times be a little busy but generally, unless there has been a diversion, it is fairly quiet and only a 5 minute walk. There are numerous other fantastic walks that can be accessed by car, only a short drive away, if you would prefer not to walk. The benefit of having Bury St Edmunds so accessible, is having a road nearby. Regarding the site being smaller than you imagined, we do have only 4 MegaPods and The Woodland Lodge set in about 1.5 acres and we do encourage you to roam where you like but we understand this might feel a little restricted to some used to larger sites. Kind regards, Ed

The pod had everything we could need and was plenty big enough (two adults and one child). It was also very clean and well maintained. We stayed in Boudicca and it was nicely tucked away. We liked the location and its proximity to great cycle paths through local woodland. Will hopefully return another time and have already recommended it to friends.

Pods were clean , comfortable, cosy, you felt secluded and could totally relax although you are only a few minutes drive from Bury St Edmonds and local attractions. pubs on recommended list were lovely and owners very helpful with suggestions for good walks and advising re local attractions and a discount set up which was great. Totally relaxed , recharged the batteries and would happily go back even just to relax on site read a book and enjoy the views of the countryside.
