"Lovely weekend glamping"

Mr D Smith - Stayed with family, Sep 2019

I hate camping but glamping is on another level, lovely big lodge tents with sofa, table and chairs and a fab ensuite shower room. This is my bare minimum requirements and Osea leisure park really delivers! The pods are cute too, we will definitely return.

Onsite bathroom is a great addition. Dirty tissues & bottles left outside back door though. Needs wall hooks/spare blankets/recycling bags/compost bags (you can market your business as ‘eco-friendly’ if you supply these & council should provide for free)/advice about local wildlife in tent/tide times/see Kent and Essex IFCA or feel free to email me directly- I’m a local marine biologist & would love to supply free info about sea-angling/ fish size limits/number of sea bass allowed per day!). You could sell/rent fishing rods like they do at chigborough. And litter-pickers & bags like they do outside the tiptree cafe in Heybridge basin. See https://beachclean.net/. We had to use the massive bbq just for boiling pasta & sauce without saucepan lid so it took ages?) because using the stove was dangerous for our toddler...perhaps advise young families/add fire guard/suggest they bring a camping gas cooker/offer one for rent. Playground is the best in the area- better than chigborough! One kid hurt himself & others complained of being bullied by teenagers- consider putting a friendly sign up to encourage supervision/fake cctv camera/have regular security patrols? Main printed notice in our tent had a spelling error. But in general absolutely amazing holiday, so thank you, we will be back!!! x

"Great weekend away with the Grandchildren"

The lodge tent definitely had the wow factor. Peaceful at night, even though large parties of people there. Lovely to hear the owls. The Grandchildren really enjoyed everything. When we asked them marks out of ten they said 9 and three quarters. We said what do we have to do to get a ten and one grandchild said don’t forget the squeaky floorboards , he was right, that was our only negative ! I don’t think it’s something that can be sorted, probably fluctuations in temperatures ! But all in all an excellent stay. Thank you.

"Lodge Tents"

J Kitching - Stayed with family, Aug 2019

Stayed in a lodge tent for the forth year running. Brilliant for our needs. Impressed with the sofa bed that was very comfy. We’ve booked the master lodge tent for next summer for a big group stay with family. The children love Osea.

"Good but could so easily be better"

Mrs G Bailey - Stayed with friends, Jul 2019

We stayed in a lodge tent which was great for convenience but let down by maintenance & bad management (the sofa bed was broken, door to the toilet didn’t close, the shower head had to be held, pots & pans for cooking were large enough for one or two people max - not the 8 the lodge is designed for) I raised my issue with pots at reception shortly on arrival as we’d planned to cook pasta bolognese and were given more small pots.... we shouldn’t have bothered as the large wood fuelled stove didn’t get hot enough to boil water - thank goodness for the small electric kettle! Plan BBQs & no more than 6 people & it’s great. The nearby wash blocks are clean & pleasant. Only other issue was nobody enforced the rule about dogs on leads so expect free roaming dogs. Kids loved the playground & creek. Great spot for easy access to the local area too.

We’ve been to Osea several times before but this visit was really spoiled by loud music until late in the night on both the Friday and the Saturday night. Some noise is understandable but it was extremely noisy (loud music, drunken singing etc) until 2am! We’ll probably give it another chance as we’ve had such good experiences before but if it’s marketed as a family site, noise after 11pm or so really needs to be clamped down on. Both my young sons got no sleep. Obviously this isn’t the park’s fault, but other campsites seem to have more effecting noise restriction measures in place. Really disappointed with this visit. Such a shame as the facilities, accommodation and staff are delightful. Both evenings disturbances seemed to be caused by large group bookings - I also checked our paperwork and, while there is information about no noise after 10pm, perhaps this needs to be more visible/prominent at time of booking and on the handouts on arrival? I hope this can be sorted out as we’ve loved coming here in the past.
