The hobbit house at Hillcroft Park is the perfect location for glamping near Lake Ullswater in the Lake District. Owned and operated by the Heath Family, the award-winning Hillcroft Park sits above the pretty lakeside village of Pooley Bridge. Hillcroft Park boasts one of the most stunning locations of any UK holiday park and you are sure to have an unforgettable glamping holiday here.

Designed to meet the needs of holiday makers who appreciate the peace and tranquillity found in this part of the world, Hillcroft Park provides an ever-changing landscape that is simply breathtaking throughout the year.

Our New Hobbit is equipped with a light, heater, electric socket, carpet and a chair/bed for 2 people. Suitable for 2 adults and up to 2 children (aged 0-5). You are required to bring your own bedding (i.e. airbeds, pillows, sleeping bags, blankets etc) and any other accessories that you would need if you were camping. Think of it as going camping, but we provide the Hobbit House.

We love what we do and work hard to go that extra mile for our guests. Providing the best facilities with a personal touch, we’ve an onsite shop that sells a good range of local produce and everyday staples plus a play area with outdoor table tennis and football tables. There is a dedicated laundry room and a drying room.

We are lucky enough to be located in the beautiful Ullswater Valley and there are a multitude of walks for all levels and abilities in the area. A recent addition to the list is the Ullswater Way – a 20 mile circular walking route around the lake. The route can be walked in either direction and from any starting point.

We stayed in the hobbit House which my 3 year old son loved from start to finish. The facilities were perfect for us with the hobbit House having plenty of room, a pull out bed, heater, sockets etc. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable of the local area giving directions to do food shopping and offering some savings on ullswater steamers. The shop onsite was stocked with the essentials and the park was very well maintained. Easy to navigate around and the pods / hobbit House was close to the facilities. The shower blocks were very clean but a little dated although this wasn't a problem as able to have a hot shower plenty of sinks mirrors although it wasn't busy during our stay. The play ground was geared to slightly older children and was abit boggy due to rain but didn't affect his enjoyment. The gate was broken and due to be fixed so didn't close at 8pm as it would normally but this wasn't an issue for us, some people may have felt this may be a concern security wise but an engineer was due out. We would def recommend this site and hope to come stay again in the future

"Another great stay"

N Preece - Stayed with family, Aug 2017

Been coming here 2-3 times a year for the last 6 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. The site is lovely and clean, no rowdy folk and pooley bridge is a 5 minute walk. Some great pubs in pooley bridge now too. 1863 bistro bar is great.

Recently stayed 2 nights in the Hobbit Pod with my husband and our 8 year old daughter. Have to say it was an absolute hit with our daughter, she loved the quirkiness of it being something a little different to just a standard camping pod. Regularly visit & stay on the park in a lodge/caravan but decided to book pods as a group of family and friends. Was a pleasant change. Pod was extremely roomy with the added benefit of a futon for 2 people to sleep on. Toilet & shower facilities immaculate as normal. I would highly recommend the Hobbit Pod & look forward to returning soon.

We stayed in the Hobbit House for the weekend we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our only gripe was that a large group of families had booked around 8 pods on the field and they were very noisy until the early hours congregating on the veranda of the pod next door, not ideal if you have a 3 year old who kept getting woken up. We would return however it might be worth having a warden that goes around the campsite to ensure that people aren't being noisy past the 11pm curfew.

We were initially looking for a nice place to camp, in a location where the weather was to be promising (last minute) for a night, so my 3year old daughter could experience The Big Wild Sleepout. However, after browsing numerous camping recommendation sites online, I kept coming back to this one. Then we spied the Hobbit Hole and knew this would be perfect. Being midweek it was fabulous that we were able to stay for just the one night rather than a minimum of 3 like at weekends, and the price was therefore excellent too. The site is so easy to find just off the M6 but surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village of Pooley Bridge is a short walk (or scoot for my 3year old!) away and has so much to offer. Hillcroft itself is beautifully maintained and has such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I have already recommended it to others and would definitely come back for longer. The hobbit hole is very spacious and has a double futon inside along with electricity, lights and a heater. Not that the heater was needed at all as it held its heat from the lovely sunny day very well right through the entire night. Plenty space for the futon to be used as a bed plus another double blow up mattress. Even at that, there was still plenty room to spare. Lots of space around outside to play, but far away from neighbours that it was extremely peaceful, day and night. Great swing park for kids and lots of places to explore nearby. We had a fabulous time and our only minor suggestion would be if there was to be some sort of small decked area like the other pods, (perhaps to the side of the hobbit house so as not to detract from its theme) to allow a little more room for sitting out and enjoying the fabulous site. However we realise that this particular pod is just newly installed abs thus perhaps is on the plans for future anyway. Thanks for having us!
