Set in an elevated position in a scenic area just outside Keswick, Castlerigg Hall enjoys exceptional panoramic views of Derwentwater & Bassenthwaite Lake set against a dramatic backdrop of the surrounding fells.

The glamping pods are a small timber hut with a wraparound roof, all very well insulated with sheep’s wool in the walls, and with a special foil layer under the tiles to help keep summer temperatures in check. There’s good head height and plenty of light from the double-glazed lockable french doors which, together with a small high rear window, provide a good through draft. Also provided is a electric socket, lighting and a Heater. All in all, it’s a brilliant substitute for a tent!

Castlerigg's amenities include a bathroom for having a good soak; a well stocked shop for all essentials; a laundrette for washing your clothes and a campers kitchen for campers and glampers to prepare and serve meals.

There is plenty of places to see and activities to do on your glamping break in Keswick. Take a cruise around Derwentwater, catch a production or enjoy a festival at the Theatre by the Lake, enjoy some optical illusions at the Puzzling Place or have a fun-filled day out at the Go Ape tree top adventure experience. You can be sure there is plenty to keep you entertained on your glamping holiday in the Lake District.

Stayed in a pod to introduce my wife and son to camping. Castlerigg Hall and the pod exceeded all expectation. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly, the facilities are very modern and extremely clean and the location is perfect. The Pod was very clean and larger than expected. (Camping pods are the future of camping.) We are already looking at booking a return stay at Castlerigg Hall. Highly recommended.

This was my 3rd visit in the last 9 months and I will definitely be back!

This was our first camping trip as a family (1 year old and 5 year old) and we stayed in one of the camping pods. The facilities were excellent, toilets and showers very clean and a well stocked shop on site. We were even able to take the kids for a bath on site. The camping pods are a bit on the small side. Once you have the camping beds set up there isn’t too much room for much else (as you’d expect with a 4 berth tent). We managed to fit our beds and camping wardrobe in there and there was a bit of space left to store the chairs in there at night. In terms of keeping us warm and dry, the pod was perfect though. The decking area had just enough shelter to keep dry whilst cooking on our cadac safari chef. The site is a bit out of Keswick and is up a steep hill so we drove into Keswick most days as we had the little one in a buggy. The views over Derwent Water are amazing though and the site was very quiet and peaceful. We had a great time and would really recommend the site. We’ve recently bought a bell tent and would love to go back to Castlerigg Hall, but the inability to book in advance means that we will probably book elsewhere when we return to Keswick next year.

The pod was clean, tidy and in a great location. The sites shared facilities were excellent too. The shower blocks were some of the best we'd come across in 20 years of camping around the UK. The site shop had everything you needed and at sensible prices. Only downside the walk into Keswick is lovely but it makes for steep climb back...

"spotless and faultless"

We specifically wanted to book a pod for our first camping experience with our toddler- the dog friendly pod 5 was far bigger than we could have hoped for with plenty of room for a travel cot and blow up mattresses (could easily fit two doubles). None of our pod-neighbours were disturbed by our daughters early morning grumbles, and likewise she was oblivious to any evening noises outside the insulated walls. Useful to book a family pod to benefit from the railings surrounding the deck area if your child has a tendency to fall off things, but unfortunately they can’t accommodate dogs. Facilities were spotless and the whole park well maintained, will definitely return.

We really enjoyed our time at the Castlerigg Park. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful. There is a shop that has everything you need in case you forget something or need a snack! We stayed in a pod and the pot wash station was so nice to have!!
