Set in an elevated position in a scenic area just outside Keswick, Castlerigg Hall enjoys exceptional panoramic views of Derwentwater & Bassenthwaite Lake set against a dramatic backdrop of the surrounding fells. The camping pods at Castlerigg are the perfect location for glamping breaks in the Lake District.

The glamping pods are a small timber hut with a wraparound roof, all very well insulated with sheep’s wool in the walls, and with a special foil layer under the tiles to help keep summer temperatures in check. There’s good head height and plenty of light from the double-glazed lockable french doors which, together with a small high rear window, provide a good through draft. Also provided is a electric socket, lighting and a Heater. All in all, it’s a brilliant substitute for a tent!

Castlerigg's amenities include a bathroom for having a good soak; a distinctly traditional Cumbrian restaurant; a well stocked shop for all essentials; a laundrette for washing your clothes and a campers kitchen for campers and glampers to prepare and serve meals.

There is plenty of places to see and activities to do on your glamping break in Keswick. Take a cruise around Derwentwater, catch a production or enjoy a festival at the Theatre by the Lake, enjoy some optical illusions at the Puzzling Place or have a fun-filled day out at the Go Ape tree top adventure experience. You can be sure there is plenty to keep you entertained on your glamping holiday in the Lake District.

My daughter and I hired a pod at this site and were quite impressed with its elevated location and proximity to the excellent shower/toilet facilities. We were disappointed that the site restaurant was unable to provide food during our stay. The site has excellent views over Derwent Water and is very close to Keswick. It was also nice to have the use of a small kitchen for making toast and hot drinks and a facility for freezing ice blocks. We would like to return to this popular site another year.

Other then that our stay was perfect. I was really impressed with the standard of the facilities.

"Brilliant stay"

Mrs R Cuff - Stayed with partner, Jun 2018

This is the first time my husband and I have visited the Lake District and we were not disappointed. We stayed in the camping pods which were great, the facilities, onsite restaurant and shop were fab and the views were incredible.

"Excellent weekend"

Miss E Cookson - Stayed with family, May 2018

We’ve stayed on a number of campsites in our tent but chose a camping pod for our 1 year old babies first camping trip. We will definitely return to Castlerigg in a pod or with our tent due to its excellent location, views and the quality of the facilities... We stayed in one of the camping pods, lovely bit of accommodation that came with heater, coat hooks and well-placed spotlights. Surprisingly spacious yet cosy. The only caveat with the pod is the door lock: it’s pretty trivial and doesn’t inspire much confidence in the security. That said, the area is very safe, unlike the city we live in. The on-site toilets, showers and wash facilities are fantastic. Clean and modern, with independent rooms with showers.

"Luxury camping for afforable prices"

Couldn't fault our stay at Castlerigg Hall other than being disappointed it was only for a night. The location and view is spectacular with spotlessly clean facilities. Will definitely be back!

The facilities were clean but we were disappointed that there was no communal fridge for us to use, and it seemed a shame that various things needed tokens/coins to use. Unfortunately the weather was terrible during our stay and it was a little chilly in the shower room, I don't think the low pressure helped in the shower. I did notice that the inside of our pod was slightly wet inside (at the corners - see camping pod 3) which made everything feel a bit damp - a drying room would certainly have helped. Also, we found that the heater took a long time to heat the pod up (about 3 hours) which was unfortunate. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

I’ve stayed at castlerigg twice now in the pods and will definitely be staying for a third time. Love the location, spectacular views , and the site itself is immaculate.
