Howbeck Lodge is in the picture perfect setting of the Lake District. It is a sustainable farm with sheep and cattle, and has been looked after by the Stobart family for over 20 years. Experience breathtaking views over the Cumbrian countryside and the Lake District National Park, the children can play in the river and the village of Hesket Newmarket is just a short walk away.
Your canvas hideaway is the perfect accommodation for your next family holiday. There are 3 bedrooms - a double bed, bunk beds, and a cupboard bed (that the kids will love), a fully equipped kitchen with running water, a sofa, a dining table for 6, your log burning stove to cook up eggs in the morning and make your coffee, and a flushing toilet. Each canvas hideaway has a private shower with hot water - some hideaways have an ensuite shower inside the tent, and others have a shower just outside the canvas hideaway - but either way you will never compromise on comfort.
Your kitchen is equipped with all the utensils and crockery you will need to feed the tribe during your adventure holiday. There isn't a fridge in the hideaway but you have a huge cool chest and we provide ice blocks for you. You can enjoy your morning coffee with fresh coffee ground from your own coffee grinder, and there is a great sense of achievement from the kettle whistle on the log burning stove. Roll up the sides of your tent and take a seat on one of your deck chairs on the veranda and breathe in the view.
Our hideaways come without electricity so you can take the opportunity to enjoy a slower pace of life, and the children find adventures without gadgets. You will have oil lamps and candles to create a cosy evening ambience that you can enjoy a board game together, tell your stories form the day, and spark the imagination with a good book.
There is a communal pizza oven on site and the farmers pizza night is a highlight to not miss. We also encourage every guest to partake in our farm tour. We guarantee it is not to be missed.
The farm shop provides all the basics you might need, and is a great for local produce and low food miles. It is operated on an honesty basis.
Solway Firth is a short drive away and offers some great beaches, or discover the gems of Ullswater, Derwentwater and Brassenthwaite.
