Chesters Estate has 4 canvas hideaways, nestled in the woods with views of the barley fields and River Teviot.

The Feather Down Farms experience is about creating family adventures, and time together. Our canvas hideaways do not have electricity and we want you to rediscover life before gadgets took over.

Our canvas hideaways are a delight and create the perfect cottage for a family holiday, With 3 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining table for 6, sofa, flushing toilet and outdoor shower you will not compromise on your holiday. On a sunny day, or a warm mid-summer evening, you can roll up the sides and enjoy the rejuvenating, cool breeze, with a seat on your veranda. Our traditional-style tented cottages are straight out of a fairy tale picture book.

You will find a spacious double bed, a cosy cupboard bed, and a handy bunk bed, and we provide cosy duvets, bedding and towels too. There's a long burning stove to cook your eggs in the morning, and to make your cup of freshly ground coffee, and delicious stews the whole family can enjoy.

All canvas hideaways come with the option to book a private hot tub and Chesters is a midge-free zone so you can take your time to soak and chill.

Around the estate you can explore the secret garden, pick your own fresh fruit and vegetables to cook on your wood-burning stove. There is endless space to explore, and the children will find adventures in den building, pebble painting and foraging for the wood for the log burner.

Chesters is a dog friendly site so there's no need to leave your four legged friend at home.

For a day out why not take the train from Tweedbank and head in to the centre of Edinburgh, or explore the area closer to the estate with a brewer tour, grass-sledding, a giant sandpit, pirate fort and gin distillery at Born in Scotland.

Arrival time is from 4pm, and check out time is 10.30am.
