Panoramic hills are the backdrop to the site, with unrivalled & uninterrupted views across unspoilt countryside & farmland, with one of the highest peaks in Dorset taking centre stage.

A stone’s throw from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and Visitor Centre at Charmouth & its beach & the infamous Broadchurch or West Bay! On the corner of three counties with a lifetime of things to do & see!

You are renting a 5m bell tent on a raised decking platform with a lower seating platform attached, this allows your area and tent to stay clean in wet weather. There is a gravel area complete with fire pit and a partially covered bbq area so you can still cook in the rain! Access to each unit is via your own gate and parking is to the rear of the unit keeping the views clear and the area free from traffic. You will need to bring all your own camping equipment - beds, bedding, BBQ, toolbox, water carrier etc. The units have 10 amp electric hookup and a drinking water tap. They then share the use of the campsite’s facilities. Prices are for 2 adults and everything else is extra. It is possible to rent beds and duvets/pillows but no linen. The shop stocks BBQs, coals, logs, airbeds, gas hobs & canisters, board game & DVD hire, ice, food etc Dogs are allowed with their own bed & bowl and paws must be clean before entering the tent. The Bell Tents can comfortably sleep 2 Adults and 2 Children, however we will accept bookings of 4 Adults.

We recently spent 4 nights in a bell tent at the Dorset Hideaway and had a thoroughly enjoyable time . It is in a beautiful location , staff were helpful and we were shown to our accommodation promptly on arrival. The only real issue was the astonishing numbers of wasps on the site which made trying to cook /eat outdoors unenjoyable . I spoke to a number of other families and they said the same so not sure whether there are a number of nests that need dealing with. We bought a wasp seater and it got a lot of use ! Also there are duvets in the bell tents but I think it worth making sure that people bring a sleeping bag as our last night was quite cold and our neighbours didn’t sleep at all and left in the morning. We had our Thick camping sleeping bags so were fine. The site is approx 17 mins drive from Lyme Regis which goes strongly in its favour as there’s a lot to do there and some great places to eat too.

"Not what we were expected"

A Potthurst - Stayed with family, Aug 2018

Inside the bell tent was so dirty and lots of hair around. The staff wasn’t helpful at all. The reception was shut most of the time. It was quite noisy.

This is a beautiful well kept site in a peaceful location. The toilet blocks were spotless with lovely hot showers. The Glamping Bell Tents exceeded our expectations and were very comfortable, clean and well-equipped (it would be useful to state clearly on the website what's included as we took things like lamps, bedding and crockery which we didn't need). The site is run by a friendly couple who do everything themselves. If they were to employ some help it would result in quicker, more efficient service but as we weren't in any hurry, this didn't spoil our holiday. A great "get away from it all" holiday.

"Lovely campsite but lots of rules"

Lovely site in a great location and clearly a lot of work is going in to making it even more lovely. My only "even better if" would be that there are an awful lot of rules and signs saying "do not....." It isn't very welcoming! Also we were a family celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary (so 3 families with kids and a retired couple) and when booking encountered some resistance as we were a "large group" (not allowed). However next to one of our tents was a much larger group of adults who pitched tents next to each other, drank heavily all day and were noisy all afternoon, and whose dogs barked all night! I appreciate your desire to dissuade large groups from coming but please apply this rule consistently!

My husband and I stayed at the Dorset Hideaway for our wedding anniversary, and we had a really lovely time. Esther and her partner came by both days to check everything was ok, and when we told them it was our wedding anniversary, they went above and beyond to make it special for us. I think on arrival I was slightly disappointed with bed because it was advertised as a futon, but was actually an airbed, which deflated slightly during the night (which is the case with all airbeds) - we told Esther this and she said that they are wanting to get mattresses in and that the airbeds were a temporary solution. Their hospitality really made up for this though. And the place was a really great site, the bell tents were huge and waterproof. And it's a lovely location for walking in the Dorset countryside. One down side was that the children's playground was right next to the bell tents so we had quite a lot of noise from that in the mornings / early evenings - I think it would work better to put the playground away from the bell tents, where people pay more for a bit more luxury - and perhaps have a playground in a family area. Overall - loved the stay and like I said, the hospitality made it what it was - Esther even drove us to the train station at the end of our stay. Thanks so much :)
