Badger Yurt sleeps up to six people in one double and four singles. It is set in a flat field with open views to surrounding farmland and woodland of the Blackdown Hills AONB. It has its own private space with outdoor table and benches, enclosed by a high Devon bank scattered with wild flowers. There are often sheep in the field adjacent to the yurt field.
A ‘field kitchen’ beside the glamping yurt is kitted out with a camping gas stove, and cutlery and utensils are provided. It has its own barbeque and fire pit (all wood supplied for log burners and fire pits). The yurt is kept cosy with a wood-burning stove (with fireguard) and is lined with colourful fabrics from India and beyond. Bed linen is provided but not towels.
Fresh water is on tap outside, along with your own composting loo. Hot showers and flushing toilets are a short walk away in our communal barn where you will also find a kitchen with mod cons such as toaster, kettle, microwave along with fridge-freezers. A cool box and ice blocks are provided for you to keep milk and essentials cool at your yurt.
Also in the communal barn is a large and comfortable sofa seating area with a large wood-burning stove and a huge dining table with benches, making this a perfect location for a get-together of friends and family or a party. Electricity is available in the barn for charging devices. There is no electricity at the yurt. When yurt glamping in Devon we want you to get away from it all and get back to nature, so there is no WiFi at Blackdown Yurts, however some mobile phone users (us included with EE) get 4G or even 5G in the yurt field.
Woodpecker Yurt (also sleeps 6) is a bit further along the field if you fancy holidaying with friends. Buzzard Yurt (also sleeps 6 is further along still and Willow Yurt (sleeps 4) is at the other end of the field.
One of our guests' favourite things to do while glamping here in the Blackdown Hills is to re-engage with nature - watching the swallows swoop and the buzzards soar. You may be lucky enough to see the shy resident deer family or catch a fleeting glimpse of a fox or a barn owl hunting. We have a selection of wildlife guides on hand in the barn and you can join an optional bat walk (weather permitting) using bat detectors to hear bats hunting at dusk or you can borrow a detector to have a go yourself. A truly unique, getting back to nature experience.
