Tor View Shepherds Huts near Wells has become the first glamping spot to be awarded the VisitEngland Gold Award.
The glamping spot was set up by Phil and Amanda Russell in 2012 and features two shepherds’ huts, Len and Ted, each with their own wood burning stove, eco hot tub, and a host of other features for guests to enjoy. The site has already created a stir with national media and has featured in the London Evening Standard, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and Metro, as well as reaching the semi-finals of ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces - Shed of the Year’.
Assessors from VisitEngland visited Tor View earlier this month and Phil and Amanda discovered this week that he had won the Gold Award. The Assessors commented that the huts are, “excellent examples of the quality that can be achieved in this style of accommodation, despite the space limitations” and that, “it is the attention to detail that is most impressive.”
This is Phil and Amanda’s second Gold Award from VisitEngland as The Old Milking Parlour, their two-bedroomed self-catering holiday home adjacent to the Shepherds Huts, has held the award for several years.
Phil Russell said, “We are delighted that Tor View Shepherds Huts has been judged to be worthy of the prestigious Gold Award, and are even more proud that we are (to our knowledge) the first site of our kind to receive it.”
